New Executive Chef

Having recently celebrated its 170th Anniversary, Rocco Forte's Brown’s Hotel was not only the first ever hotel to open in London, but was also home to the first ever hotel restaurant.  To celebrate this, Brown’s Hotel is delighted to announce its new Executive Chef Lee Streeton.

Born in 1977, Lee’s career started at The Savoy Hotel, London before moving to Caprice Holdings.  Here Lee worked at both The Ivy and Le Caprice before moving to Villa Moda in Kuwait as Head Chef.  In 2004 Lee returned to Caprice Holdings as Head Chef for Daphne’s Restaurant until joining Rocco Forte's Brown's Hotel in December 2007.

Lee has created an outstanding menu of great British classics, simply presented, using only the finest British seasonal ingredients.  Lee, originally from Dorset, is passionate about supporting British suppliers and has gone to great lengths to source some of the finest seasonal ingredients from all over the British Isles.  Lee has made it a priority to only source the best for his new menu at The Grill, from sourcing his fresh crabs from Dorset, to his Aberdeenshire Filet from a George Rich Farm in East Fingask who exclusively supply The Grill from their range of grass-fed cows.

Guests can choose from starters such as Potted Morecambe Bay Shrimps; Baby Beets with Lancashire Bomb Cheese and Walnuts; main courses include 350g Dover Sole, grilled or pan-fried and Aberdeenshire Fillet Steak on the bone. Working alongside Lee, Fabien Ecuvillon, Pastry Chef, offers a pudding menu which includes Spotted Dick with Custard and Apple Crumble.  At lunch time The Grill continues to offer from the carving trolley dishes such as Fillet of Beef Wellington with Madeira Sauce or Hay-baked Salt Marsh Lamb.

To complement the extensive menu, Brown’s Hotel’s sommelier has sourced a comprehensive list of over 400 wines, as well as a fine selection of aperitifs, spirits and liqueurs.

Design and Décor
The Grill, an 80 cover restaurant, offers a traditional feel with restored wood panelling and Philippe Hurel banquets, and a new collection of beautiful photographic images by Herbertus von Hohenlohe.

Sir Rocco Forte first noticed Hohenlohe’s photographs at an exhibition he was holding at Rocco Forte’s Villa Kennedy and it was there that he commissioned him to travel to London to create a unique series of photographs for The Grill, all over one weekend.  Hohenlohe, a Liechtenstein and Mexican citizen, is present in each of his photographs and he believes in capturing the wonderful colours and excitement that each place offers and everything within these photographs is real – they are not staged or digitally enhanced.

“Life is colourful enough without having to add anything” Hohenlohe believes, echoing Lee’s feelings about the finest English produce.

Hohenlohe’s photography provides a lighter, more contemporary ambiance complimented by the lighting provided by hanging lanterns, as well as specially commissioned 1930s style wall fixtures.  The moss green leather banquette seating adds further privacy and space, and cream linen Roman blinds allow natural daylight to flood the room.  During the day the atmosphere is light, airy and bright; for dinner, the mood is enhanced by subtle lighting and candles.

Situated in the heart of Mayfair, The Grill provides an oasis from the hustle and bustle of central London, making it the perfect place to entertain and meet friends and colleagues for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
